Galle · Sri Lanka · Est. 18th Century
A three-century-old colonial sanctuary on the cliffs of Bonavista Bay - four room categories, six hundred metres from Katugoda station, ten quiet minutes from Galle Fort.
The Headland
Closenberg sits on a private hilltop above Bonavista Bay, where the Indian Ocean meets the coral reef and the trade winds have shaped daily life for three hundred years.
The Captain's Estate
Built in the late eighteenth century by a British merchant captain, the house was conceived as a residence of consequence - high ceilings, deep verandas, rooms that frame the sea like paintings hung in a private gallery.
A Family Legacy
Today the estate is kept by the same family that has stewarded it for generations. An unhurried boutique retreat where heritage, mature gardens, and the rhythm of the coast take precedence over uniformity.

"A private sanctuary that feels less like a hotel, and entirely like home."
The Estate

An overhanging infinity pool suspended above the reef. A quiet terrace bar adjoins it for the long afternoon hours.
